A week of wartime nostalgia will keep youngsters entertained at the RAF Museum in Cosford

Visitors to the RAF Museum in Cosford will be able to join in fun flying-themed craft activities and enjoying a wartime trail between May 27 and June 4.

Taking inspiration from the museum’s three iconic First World War aircraft, children will be transforming wooden pegs and lollipop sticks into biplane fridge magnets. The activities take place in the War in the Air hangar and youngsters will be able to take their creations home.

The sessions cost £2.

Children will also be challenged to find all of the hidden wartime slang words which will be concealed in and around the museum’s First World War in the Air exhibition.

The First World War brought together service personnel from different countries and backgrounds and slang words were often used to help people describe their experiences.

Youngsters taking part in the trail can also enter into a competition to win a prize bundle from the RAF Museum shop worth more than £50.

To enter the competition people are asked to “Like” the RAF Museum Cosford Facebook page and follow the instructions on the back page of their trail sheet.

It costs £1 to take part.

The winner will be announced on Facebook in June.

The museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm and admission is free.
