The event will celebrate the birth of Khalsa and harvest time in Punjab and teach those who attend about the Sikh philosophy of the 'saint soldier'. Events include family workshops, painting exhibitions, live music and traditional performances.

Various groups will be there including the Midland Langar Seva Society, talking about its work in the community, the Baba Deep Singh Gatka group performing spiritual Sikh martial arts and the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in the borough – which will be putting on music. Chris Wilkinson, art gallery marketing officer, said: "The gallery is excited to once again be holding the annual Vaisakhi event.

"Come and learn more about Sikh culture, there's lots happening on the day including live music, dance performances and family workshops. It's a free event and everyone is welcome to come and join in."
