West Midlands celebrates St George's Day - with PICTURES

[gallery] St George's Day was being celebrated today across the West Midlands with a range of events.

The Stone Cross St George's Day parade - one of the biggest in the country - was held in West Bromwich, with organisers anticipating a crowd of around 10,000 revellers.

The parade began at 10.15am from Westminster Road before to Dartmouth Park, where there was a short service by the war memorial followed by a fun family fete, whihc was running until 5pm.

Rolling road closures were in place for the parade.

Meanwhile, at Dudley Zoo, people who bagged special £2.50 tickets were able to enjoy themed attractions at the venue.

The zoo hosted a patriotic extravaganze in the Dudley Castle courtyard complete with medieval re-enactors, dragons, children's entertainers, crafts, story telling and stilt walkers.

A St George's Day fun event held was also held in the castle grounds at Bridgnorth.
