Record Store Day, now in it's 10th year, will see exclusive vinyl releases in independent record stores from artists across a spectrum of genres as a range of singles, EPs and LPs will be released tomorrow.

Vinyl collectors are getting excited ahead of releases from Animal Collective, Christopher Lee, The Cure, Elvis, Pink Floyd and even a limited edition Fawlty Towers picture disc, featuring two of the most highly rated episodes. Vinyl has been growing in popularity in recent years and is now proving more popular than digital downloads.

Vinyl and Vintage, which has been based on Cleveland Street for five years, has to implement a ticket system to ensure bedlam doesn't break out in the store.

Owner Claire Howell said: "We have queues of people outside the store, we usually get about 80 waiting before we open at 8am. Each person has a ticket, so if we have got one copy of something and your first in the queue, you get it. Otherwise the next person in the queue has the chance to buy it. This stops it from being a free-for-all like in other stores.

"This year we have lots of exciting releases including Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Prince and we can't forgot the first vinyl Little Mix release on a pink picture disc."

Other stores participating include Oldies Unlimited on Darlington Street.
