Emily Pain heading to Birmingham

French indie singer Melanie Pain will play songs from her new album, Parachute, when she headlines Birmingham's Hare & Hounds on Monday.

Her third album was recorded witih Gael Rakotondrabe, pianist of the highly-respected Antony and the Johnsons (as well as CocoRosie).

The record is entirely piano-based with no guitars.

Melanie sings in French and English and has enjoyed success on both sides of the Channel after starting her career singing Nouvelle Vague. The singer, who cites her influences as The Pixies, PJ Harvey and Nick Drake, is playing four dates while in the UK.

Parachute follows her 2009 debut, My Name, and the 2012 follow-up, Bye Bye Manchester.
