Halfpenny Vineyards, in Bobbington, won silver and two bronze titles for its array of white wines from the Independent English Wine Awards.

Staff at the facility said it was great their products were being recognised for its quality. The vineyard's 'Tom Hill 2015' dry-white wine won silver, while its 'Mercia 2015' dry-white won bronze alongside its 'Sparkling White 2014'.

Ben Godbehere, sales and marketing assistant, said: "It is great our wines are recognised, especially within England.

"It just goes to show the quality of wines in this country, more specifically in this area, and to compete on a global scale and to be as good as, if not better, than ones from Italy, France and Germany."

Dozens of vineyards across the country were awarded prizes for their products picking up gold, silver and bronze awards.

The vineyards were planted in 1983 when Martin Vickers, who owned a farm on the site, decided to grow his first vines.
