Wolverhampton charity rock fest returns

The Mayor of Wolverhampton is getting ready to rock for charity.

Mayor Councillor Barry Findlay and mayoress Margaret Findlay have been getting into the spirit of things ahead of the weekend's event.

The Wolves Mayor Rock Fest was set up by former mayor Councillor Ian Brookfield and Facebook fan group, Rockers Through the Age.

Last year, money was raised for a handful of charities.

For 2017, the event will in aid of the mayor's chosen charities, Samaritans of Wolverhampton, The MS Therapy Centre, and Wolverhampton Help for Heroes, which will all benefit.

Councillor Findlay said: "It's great to see the Rock Fest back.

"I am happy Councillor Brookfield has organised it again for three great charities. We're looking forward to showing off the fantastic musical talent we have here in City of Wolverhampton.

"I'd like to thank everyone who has agreed to take part.

"We have a cast of more than 100 and they are all giving their time for free."

The music festival will take place at The Slade Rooms on Saturday.

It will showcase some of the best upcoming rock talent in the City of Wolverhampton.

Bands appearing include The Bad Flowers, Shyyne, Electus, Iconic Eye, The New Saints and Voodoo Sioux.

Entry is priced £7.32, which is £6.50 ticket plus an £0.82 booking fee.
