Legends Des O'Connor and Jimmy Tarbuck in Wolverhampton theatre line-up

Showbiz veterans Des O'Connor and Jimmy Tarbuck will be looking back over their life in entertainment in a rare two-man show at the Grand Theatre.

That's just one of the picks among the feast of dates the Wolverhampton venue has revealed in its packed new programme.

The shows have been billed as a brand new season of 'West End musicals, gripping dramas, dynamic dance and one-night concerts' by the Grand's promoters.

Scott Bird, sales and marketing manager, said: "Our new season is incredibly exciting. Throughout 2017 and into 2018 we have a very diverse programme, including Shakespeare, ballet, some of the biggest musicals, a production from the National Theatre and appearances from stage and screen legends."

Showbiz veterans Des O'Connor and Jimmy Tarbuck will appear together accompanied by music and video to reminisce and entertain for one night only on July 22.

Other shows announced for the summer include Genesis tribute show And Finally...Phil Collins, as well as a powerful, new production of Romeo and Juliet direct from the Watermill Theatre.

Other Shakespeare classics include Twelfth Night, while the musical adaptation of the classic children's picture book, Room on the Broom, will also take to the stage in July.

In a busy autumn, highlights include A Black Country Night Out, the English Youth Ballet's The Nutcracker Suite with Ballet Etudes and Doreen Tipton's return to the stage with the nearly sold out Doreen – Rise of the Yam Yam.

Fans of the late Whitney Houston will be pleased to see the return of The Whitney Houston Show in September, featuring the vocal talents of South Africa's Belinda Davids.

For children, Milkshake! Live will hit the stage on September 23, starring the TV programme's favourites Bob the Builder, Little Princess, Noddy, Fireman Sam, Shimmer & Shine, Pip from Pip Ahoy!, Winnie and Wilbur, Wissper and Milkshake!'s very own Milkshake! Monkey and two presenters.

The all-singing, all-dancing, musical performance, will take audiences on a journey through the world's favourite fairytales.

In October, The New Adventures of Puss in Boots stars Julie Paton from Cats as Puss In Boots and Grand Theatre panto dame Ian Adams will be the Queen of Catrovia.

Music, magic and mayhem abound as this clever cat comes out on top, with sing-a-long songs and lots of audience participation a treat for all the family on Monday, October 23. A Black Country Night Out returns to the stage in October, including show regulars Dandy, the band behind the Black Country Anthem, The Empty Can, and comedian Ian 'Sludge' Lees.

They'll be joined by raconteur, musician and comedian Bev Pegg who will be the master of ceremonies while also introducing one of the finest voices to emerge from the Black Country, Jess Silk.

Later, in October, pulsating to the rhythms of mambo, salsa and cha cha cha, Circo Cuba Libre, sees 30 world-class circus artists, six musicians, star in a rainbow of incredible costumes.

In a true carnival-inspired spectacle, the show takes to the stage on Sunday, October 15.

Steve Steinman has ramped up the vamp in the spectacular sequel to the phenomenally successful Vampires Rock on November 3. Vampires Rock: Ghost Train features a 'tongue-in-cheek story, spellbinding cast, guitar gods and sexy vampettes' in the musical concert featuring classic rock anthems. Also next winter, the world stage premiere of Gallowglass makes its way to the Grand Theatre and, following a sold-out run at the National Theatre, the modern production of Ibsen's Hedda Gabler will take to the stage.

Theatre-goers will also be happy to see the return of popular shows including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Hairspray.
