From schoolchildren in Stafford to foundry workers in Dudley, people sat in tubs of beans, donned wacky outfits and carried out gruelling 'bikeathons' to raise money for the charity.

Baggies players Allan Nyom and Claudio Yacob gave a thumbs up and wore red noses in support of Comic Relief and even the Bull at the Bullring in Birmingham donned a red nose.

The annual fundraiser saw Matt Lemm, manager of the recently refurbished Bar 10 in Walsall, sit in a bathtub of beans.

For more than four hours, Mr Lemm sat outside in Walsall in his speedos and goggles, covered in the contents of 700 tins of beans, raising hundreds of pounds in the process.

The 37-year-old, from Darlaston, said: "The beans were kindly donated by Batley's in Smethwick and Morrison's in Walsall. I put out a request on Facebook for an old bath and a builder friend of mine got in touch and set that up. We've been so busy refurbishing the bar recently, it's the first time I've had the chance to think about anything else and we like to do our bit for charity.

"We decided to give people the chance to pour a tin of beans on me for a pound.

"All of this wouldn't have been made possible without the public's generosity and I'd like to thank everyone for their donations." He modestly added: "Everyone's so used to me looking cool all the time, I though I'd look an idiot for once."
