Final year BSc (Hons) Film Production Technology student Richie Howle, 21 from Biddulph, gained work experience on the set as a runner after contacting the producer.

He worked on location with the cast and crew, which also includes Ian McShane, in Stoke and Birmingham for three weeks.

He even had the chance to chat to Ray over a coffee and said: “It was the best experience I’ve ever had and it made me know that I wanted to be in the industry for sure.

“I made Ray Winstone coffee and the first time he wanted a cafetiere and I made a botched job of it and he took a sip and spat it out, he was laughing though thankfully.

"It was great to meet him and thankfully it wasn’t all about the coffee, I was looking after the supporting actors on set as well.”

Richie who graduates this summer, is studying the optional final year Work Experience module led by Senior Lecturer Fiona Graham who said: “Richie has worked on many productions during his time on the course, he is a hard worker and great guy who is determined to be in the industry.

“This is what our courses are about – encouraging students to be confident and to get out in to industry and apply the skills they are developing here to films in the real world.

“The work experience and the industry business skills on the BSc Hons Film Production Technology course helps you put what you have learned in to practice.

"I got the job by emailing the producer and it was the best experience I’ve ever had.”

Jawbone is due for release on Friday.
