Festival of locomotives to mark star of Severn Valley Railway's events season

A festival of locomotives will mark the start of the Severn Valley Railway's steam events season.

The railway will hold its annual Spring Steam Gala from March 17 to 19. It will feature a top line-up of visiting locomotives, supported by members of the SVR home fleet.

Among the star appearances this year, are visiting locomotives LMS Ivatt 2 No. 41312 - making its first visit to the SVR in 16 years - SR Battle of Britain No. 34081 92 Squadron, and BR Standard 9F No. 92214 - one of the most powerful locomotives in Britain.

The fantastic selection of visiting locomotives will be supported by members of the Railway's home fleet, including No. 813, No. 1450, No. 1501, No. 2857, No. 7714, No. 7802 Bradley Manor, No. 7812 Erlestoke Manor, No. 34027 Taw Valley, No. 34053 Sir Keith Park and No. 43106.

Visitors can take steam train and brake van rides, get on board evening services, and visit the beer tent at Bewdley.

They will also be able to enjoy three new exhibitions at The Engine House Visitor Centre.
