Walsall's The Wharf reopens as Bar 10 after refurbishment
A bar on Walsall's waterfront is celebrating its grand opening after undergoing a £50,000 refurbishment.
The Wharf has been renamed Bar 10 after managers Mat Lemm and Katie Butler enjoyed refurbishing The Worker's Rest in Willenhall four-years-ago and wanted a new challenge.
Mr Lemm said: "It's been really worth it, the whole place is absolutely amazing.
"We've outdone ourselves.
"We wanted to make somewhere classy for Walsall people to come and enjoy and give something back to everyone.
"All we need to do now is open the doors and see who wants to come on in."
The couple from Walsall began managing the bar in December and made more in their first week then the previous managers had made in any week of the last six months.
This spurred them on to close the bar after the festive season and give it a complete over hall.
Their grand opening on Saturday is already sold out after announcing it will include fire eaters, fireworks and appearances from DJs such as Wayne Scott Fox and Becki de-Funk.
The pair did a lot of the work themselves and often put in 17-hour-days to ensure the job was done to a high-standard.
They were encouraged throughout the work by their 16-month-old son, Jackson, who was often with them during the refurbishment. Mr Lemm said: "When you feel down he'd smile at you and spur you on."
To create publicity the couple started a competition on Facebook for people to turn their name into a dish with the top five winning a place on their menu.
Their dishes now include a 'Dickie-bun burger' named after their friend Richard and an 'Ethan mess.'
Bar 10 will be offering various breakfast, lunch and evening menus and have reduced the price of beer to encourage new customers.
They also have tribute nights planned as well as student events that will take place every week.
The couple say that they have put a lot of tears into the project, but that seeing the results makes it all worthwhile.
