Harry Potter fans: British Quidditch Cup will return to Rugeley
Harry Potter fans from across the country will flock to Rugeley once again for the British Quidditch Cup, organisers have confirmed.
The competition came to the town's leisure centre for the first time last year and saw 32 teams face off against each other in what was the biggest event to date.
This year's contest has been scheduled for the weekend of March 11 and 12.
With the exception of magical flying brooms, it is a faithful recreation of the game which featured throughout J.K. Rowling's smash hit wizarding novels.
Each team aims to shoot the quaffle – a ball – through their opponents' hoops to score points while players assigned as beaters try and distract them.
Meanwhile the seekers on each team have their own personal duel to obtain a 'snitch' which ends the match and bags a haul of potentially game-changing points.
Mel Piper, president of QuidditchUK, said: "It is set to be our most open competition yet, with the top six teams all vying to prove themselves before the European championships two weeks later."
