Aladdin stars Lucy Kay and Joe McElderry paid a visit to Dudley Zoo where they got up close and personal with some of the venue's natives.

The stars can be seen in close proximity to giraffes, lemurs and other animals in pictures posted on social media.

Kay, 27, wrote on Twitter after the day trip: "Cute morning at @Dudleyzoo !! Thank you so much for having us! It was an amazing experience." Her fellow performer McElderry, a former X Factor winner, posted on Instagram: "Wonderful morning!! thankyou for inviting us down! I didn't quite master the Lemur feeding though!"

Aladdin closes later this month and nearly 60,000 are expected to have seen the production before it finishes.

McElderry played Aladdin, Kay the Princess, and it also stars Lisa Riley as the Slave of the Ring, CBeebies' Mr Bloom and Ben Faulks as the Chief of Peking Police.

Local internet sensation Doreen Tipton plays the Lazy Empress Of China and magician Stefan Pejic is evil Abanazar.
