Wolverhampton's Liam Payne set to embark on solo career

Liam Payne's solo career looks set to get underway in the New Year, as a new track entitled 'Myself' was registered with music rights organisation BMI.

The new song has been penned by a team of songwriters who previously worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Nick Jonas.

The 23 year old has been teasing fans with the promise of new music ever since going on a hiatus from One Direction.

Earlier this year, the Wolverhampton-born singer singed a record deal with Capitol Records and said: "One Direction will always be my family; I'm now excited to show what I can do as a solo artist."

In October, Payne uploaded a snippet of a new song to Instagram with the caption: 'Just finished a busy day in the studio may not be a song I release but wanted to invite you into the writing process hope you enjoyed it.'

The unnamed track had more than one million listens online and features auto-tuned vocals to an R&B track.

He tagged producers Danny Boy Styles and Ben Billions, as well as singer-songwriter Bibi Bourelly, who has co-written tracks for Rihanna. Liam, is dating Cheryl and there's feverish speculation that she's due to have a baby.
