Christmas arrives at Wordsley's Red House Glass Cone

Visitors flocked to the the Red House Glass Cone, at Wordsley, near Stourbridge, for the festive event at the weekend.

Santa Claus and Mrs Claus were also at the event.

The newly opened White House Cone also joined in and hosted a number of craft stalls at its site across the road from the Red House Glass Cone.

As well as a craft market, visitors also had the chance to attend the teenage market, visit open studios and the gift shop as well as the chance to witness glassmaking sessions.

There was also a Walking in a Winter Wonderland exhibition at the attraction.

The Winter Wonderland exhibition featured work in a wintery scene, complete with scattered leaves, snowflakes and snow covered branches.

"Everyone enjoyed the festival and it was a welcome start to Christmas with a less stressful shopping experience unlike typical Christmas shopping," said Sarah Hall, visitor services manager at the glass cone.

"The festival gave visitors a chance to buy handmade bespoke craft items for Christmas which all proved extremely popular.

"All the individual store holders had a successful day with a lot of them completely selling out of stuff - particularly the ones who baked. The cake stalls were extremely popular over the two days with a lot of the teenagers having to go home and spend most the evening baking until 2am to reach demand."

The Red Cone heritage site has 225 years of glass, industrial and social history within its walls and is home to many skills artists and companies.

Built at the end of the 18th century, it was used for the manufacture of glass up until 1936.

Santa will also be paying a visit to the site on December 10 and 11, and again from December 17 to 23, from 10am until 3.30pm.

Entry to meet Santa is £7.90 per child.
