Cannock tea room crowned best in county
A much loved tea room is celebrating after it was crowned the best in Staffordshire.
The Springslade Lodge tea rooms on Camp Road, Cannock Chase won a first place gold award in the tearooms category in the Taste of Staffordshire awards.
The tea rooms, which are run by husband and wife Richard and Kaye Le Page with their daughter Lucy, serve up to 1,000 customers over a weekend at the height of summer.
Former catering lecturer Mrs Le Page, 51, said: "We are very proud of them but it is a team effort. It is not just the food, it's the service, how you answer the phone.
"I think we have done so well because it's got a community feel."
They were handed their awards at the 2016 NFU Mutual Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards at Alton Towers on November 15.
The business also won a silver award when all eateries in the competition were included in another category.
