The canoe gold medalist, from Stone, will be appearing on the show tomorrow alongside fellow Olympians Lutalo Muhammad, Hollie Webb and Helen Glover.

He will be dancing with professional Janette Manrara on the show.

He has been using his Twitter account to keep his fans updated on his progress as he prepares for the show.

Earlier this month he admitted he went for a spray tan and later said: "My bedroom smells like fake tan.. real life @bbcstrictly problems."

Ms Manrara previously said that Mr Clarke had been 'smashing the rehearsals' while he himself admitted it was 'all coming together nicely'.

It was announced back in October that he would be appearing on the show.

It will be a double weekend celebration for Mr Clarke as on Saturday he will also be awarded the freedom of the Stafford borough as he switches on the lights for the town's gigantic new 50ft Christmas tree.

Mr Clarke claimed Team GB's second gold of the Rio Olympics in the K1 men's slalom.
