Cannock real ale pub is a family affair - WATCH
Three brothers and their father are taking on a new challenge – running a micro-pub in the heart of Cannock's new shopping development.
The New Hall Arms has officially opened as part of the multi-million pound Newhall retail development, thanks to brothers Matt, Chris and Jamie Ward, as well as their father Kevin.
The micro-pub craze is catching fire around the country and the family believe that they have found a gap in the market for drinkers in Cannock.
Matt, aged 29, from Windsor Grove in Shelfield, said: "There aren't many pubs doing real cask ales in Cannock, but we found out that there are 400 members of the CAMRA branch for the area, so we thought this was a golden opportunity.
"I think that is our unique selling point really, the quality of the beer we are going to sell.
"It is all about the storage and making sure the beer doesn't lose its quality before going to the glass and we are on top of that.
"I think the micro-pub phrase is slightly misleading when it comes to this place because it is bigger than you would think.
"We are really going for that old-fashioned vibe in here though, where people can enjoy a top quality pint in good company, without food flying around everywhere and loads of screaming children to worry about."
The family also run The Ashmore Pub in Ashmore Park, Wednesfield, but this is their first venture jointly owning a pub.
It is something that Matt says has been in the pipeline for a number of years.
He said: "We have been talking about this for 10 years and to get to this point feels fantastic.
"We had a great opening day and are looking forward to many happy and successful years here.
"Considering the excellent location we have got, in the heart of this new shopping development, we really see this as an opportunity to go for it.
"It is an exciting thing to do with your family, of course that brings an extra level of stress at times, but we are determined to make this a success."
