Jade Jones, from Wolverhampton, agreed to assist during a knife-throwing show while at the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley.

Little did she know staff at the museum were in on the act as the two knife throwers blindfolded the 21-year-old.

As she stood unable to see, her boyfriend of six weeks, Daniel Guy, 21, from Cannock, got down on one knee to propose in front of an excited crowd.

In an ideal setting for the couple who are huge horror fans, Jade said yes.

Jade and Daniel first met five years ago, when they formed a friendship as students on an animal care course at Rodbaston College. They reunited after tragedy struck when Jade's two month-year-old baby Alfie died three months ago.

The then entered a relationship and Daniel got into a secret discussion with Jade's mother, Sam Baynham, about taking the relationship further by proposing.

Sam, who comes from a travelling community, said: "Jade lost her baby three months to the day on Monday and at least out of something bad, something good has come along.

"Dan respected our traveller traditions of asking parents before marriage and I gave him the go ahead and we discussed ways he could propose.

"They're now set for a big fat gipsy wedding in summer 2018."

Daniel who works as a warehouse operative, said: "We came up with the idea when I was talking to Sam late one night, a couple weeks back.

"I'm so happy now, it was a bit overwhelming at the time – I want to thank the museum for everything they did."

Jade, who wasn't expecting the proposal, said: "It was a total surprise. And we've gone viral online – it's had more than 8,200 views online."

Knife thrower Stephen Harley said: "It was a great honour to be a part of Black Country Living Museum making dreams a reality."
