Scottish musician, singer-songwriter and producer Midge Ure will bring his Something from Everything tour to Stafford Gatehouse Theatre on Wednesday.

He is one of the UK's most successful musicians and has received Ivor Novello, Grammy and BASCAP awards along with a flotilla of gold and platinum records.

Venue spokesman Tom Waldron said: "Musical success is seldom measured in time spans of more than a few years (if not Andy Warhol's often quoted '15 minutes'), so the fact that by the time his single – "If I Was" – went to No1 in 1985, Midge Ure had already crammed several musical lifetimes into a 10 year professional career, speaks volumes."

In recent years, Midge has continued to receive critical acclaim for his musical ventures, writing and producing albums with significant commercial success.

For his latest tour, Midge will perform something from every album he has ever recorded – including work from the Rich Kids, Visage and Ultravox, up to his latest solo album, Fragile. The format will provide diversity without detracting from the essence of the most important factor: the songs.

The Gatehouse will also welcome a production called In Our Hands, about fishing.

Mr Waldron said: "Alf is a trawler fisherman at the top of his game. But times are changing and so is the industry, will Alf adapt in order to survive?

"The show follows a fish's journey from sea to plate, witnessing a seagull's ridiculous attempt to find food and also a father and son who reunite.

"The award-winning Smoking Apples will use innovative puppetry, a striking set and an original score to transport you out to sea, under the ocean and onto the deck of the Catcher's Fortune."

Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn will welcome a night of soul music tonight when Motown's Greatest Hits are performed by How Sweet It Is.

Jimmy Osmond will visit tomorrow, starring in Moon River and Me.

Venue spokesman Craig Reeves said: "Direct from the USA, it's the only official Andy Williams tribute show starring Jimmy Osmond.

"Jimmy Osmond began his performing career at the tender age of three with Andy Williams on his television series.

"This year marks Jimmy's 50th anniversary in show business. Jimmy will sing the songs that made Andy Williams so beloved by millions including Music To Watch Girls By, Happy Heart, Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Almost There, May Each Day, Days Of Wine And Roses, and, of course, the song that was to become his theme tune, Moon River."

More music is in store with Black Country blues star Joanne Shaw Taylor headlining on Sunday.

Mr Reeves said: "The girl with the big voice from the Black Country has toured extensively around the world, released critically acclaimed albums and gained a global fan base as well as having the honour of playing alongside some of her musical idols.

"Joanne's debut album White Sugar opened the door and Joanne's career has since gone stratospheric, even breaking the notoriously hard-to-crack US market.

"She beat the stereotypes of her age and gender, gaining acclaim from critics and peers alike. Subsequent albums; Diamonds in the Dirt, Almost Always Never and Songs From The Road followed and saw Joanne's fan base expand globally."

Theatre Severn will also welcome 10CC on Monday for a sell-out show, while comedian Jimeoin will bring stand-up to the venue on Tuesday.
