Cher Melsom from Staffordshire was whisked away to the Dorchester hotel in London by the 1980s pop duo after they heard of her battle with cancer.

Cher, a mother of four from Lichfield, was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2013 and after 18 months of chemotherapy and surgery, she went into remission.

Following her diagnosis, she went on to raise more than £4,000 for St Giles Hospice who helped her throughout her treatment.

The Bros super-fan first had contact from the musical duo after vlogging her frustration's about not securing tickets to see them in their upcoming reunion.

Ms Melsom, 40, said: "I've been vlogging for the last three years about my experiences with cancer.

"I had a bit of an emotional paddy on one of my vlogs after I couldn't get tickets to see them in August, so I decided to tell my life story through Bros songs.

"After sharing it on Twitter, Matt Goss saw it and tweeted about it and then I had a call from his manager, Rob Ferguson.

"I couldn't believe it and in the beginning I didn't believe it – a lot of people know I'm a massive Bros fan and I was hoping no-one was having me on.

"Then I spoke to Matt on the phone and the 13-year-old fan in me just wanted to scream."

Cher was then invited to stay in a penthouse suite at The Dorchester hotel ahead of meeting them at ITV studios before their appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show.

Cher and her mother, June, were picked up by a Mercedes before meeting the duo, twins Matt and Luke Goss, in person for the first time.

Cher said: "I think after meeting them my mom forgives them for all the posters on the wall when I was a kid. I was very scared before meeting them and it was so amazing to hear Luke and Matt say my name.

"They were very compassionate and told me to promise to fight the disease."

Cher, who has secondary ovarian cancer, had opted not to have chemotherapy, but following her meeting with Bros, she says she has found more inner power to battle the disease and has now chosen to undergo the treatment. "My children have always been my fight and this has gave me even more power," she said.

Cher has now secured tickets to see Bros at Barclaycard arena in Birmingham in August. Follow Cher's journey on Twitter @forgetfulcher
