Comedy metal band Steel Panther will line up with Bowling For Soup and Buckcherry for a triple header at Birmingham's Barclaycard Arena on Wednesday.

The glam-rock satirists - best known for their exaggerated on-stage personae, think Spinal Tap but with more lipgloss than mini Stonehenges - had one of the longest running residencies of all time, playing venues in Los Angeles and Las Vegas from 1999 to 2014.

Bassist and band pretty boy Lexxi Foxx said the band never expected to do so well: "No way, it really is a dream come true. To be able to play with the dudes that I play with and bring back heavy metal from the best era ever, where the chicks were always crazy hot and dudes looked like chicks.

"To bring it back and have this many people enjoy our own songs is such a big deal and we don't take it for granted at all. We get to party a bunch."

The band have had plenty of spectacular failures, however, which they are now able to laugh at.

"I brought a girl back to the hotel and everything's going great, everything's great. Ya know, if we don't have any press in the morning I'll sleep in as long as I can because we all party into the wee hours of the morning. Anyway, this girl gets up before I do and takes all my makeup.

"Then I started crying, and yelling and screaming and then finally my tour manager came in and just started to try and find this stupid girl.

"We couldn't find her though. I have a list of all my make-up and everything on my rider though so our wardrobe chick went out and got all new make-up again. It just wasn't the same and there was some real personal lip glosses in there so it was really devastating, as you can imagine I'm sure.

"It was very close to the tour being cancelled. If the awesome wardrobe chick didn't save the day I would've cancelled the tour for sure."
