As part of his Great British Spin Off tour, England's most popular modern spin bowler, Graeme Swann, will be joined by former England cricketer and broadcasting supremo, Henry Blofeld, to discuss the highs and lows of their time in the game.

Venue spokeswoman Tom Waldron said: "Who better to discuss the trials and tribulations of Swanny's illustrious career than the man who commentated on it every step of the way, and who better for Henry to pass on his pearls of wisdom to after 40 years in the TMS commentary box.

"Expect the sprinkler, expect red trousers, and expect to be laughing - but keep your wits about you as you might be called upon to join the gents on stage. This is a not to miss show full of surprises, anecdotes, impressions and more."

Swann, pictured, is looking forward to the show. The 37-year-old, who took 255 wickets and scored 1,370 runs for England in 60 Tests, said: "I hope they can expect a rip-roaring good time. So far it's gone down really well, we've put them on with Henry Blofeld and the whole idea is to have a good time.

"It's not something to make you think, it's something to make you relax, giggle and laugh and I hope they'll walk away having a good yarn or two told their way that's made them laugh out loud.

"Due to the fact we're touring round, and cricket tours round the country as well, there's individual stories that relate to individual places.

"Henry's got a story for everything, though, as he's been around forever.

"I think old Henry's older than the queen and he's certainly got better stories than her. It's all fun and all good, though."

Graeme Swann's Great British Spin Off will be performed at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre on Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets are £25.50 and can be booked by calling the box office on 01785 619080 or by visiting www.staffordgatehousetheatre.co.uk
