Check out this viral video tribute to X Factor favourite Honey G from a Penkridge singer aged just 12
A young rap fan's take-off of X Factor favourite Honey G has become an internet sensation with more than half a million hits on Facebook.
Novelty act Honey G has divided audiences with her rap performances on the TV talent show - but she has a number one fan in sassy sound-alike Bethany Tudor from Penkridge.
The 12-year-old was so inspired by the contestant's X Factor performance on Saturday that she videoed herself sing the same song in her bedroom and loaded it on to social media.
In less than three days, the footage received more than 625,000 hits.
"It's gone viral," said her stunned grandmother, 69-year-old Brenda Tudor. "I've watched it, and I can't understand what she's saying, but I think it's brilliant."
The Year 8 pupil, whose better-known music heroes include Adele and Justin Bieber, is unfazed by her new-found fame.
"She's taking it all in her stride," said her gran. "It's her mum that's excited. A lot of people have been getting in touch. Her brother Sean's had calls from some of his old university mates but it's all been because of Beth's Facebook song. It's amazing what's happened."
Honey G's shaky X Factor journey from audition to live shows has not been without controversy. The aspiring rap superstar, though loved by many viewers, also has her haters who have been quick to post their views on social media.
Bethany, who also has a big sister Anna, 14, has attracted some negative comments of her own but shrugs them off, says nan.
"Her deputy head was a bit concerned about it," she said. "He took her to one side and told her to be careful and not to bother with anyone who says nasty things.
"But to be honest she ignores them, they don't bother her. She's very down-to-earth."
The year 8 pupil, who attends Penkridge Middle School, dressed up gangster-style in a baseball hat, sunglasses and bomber jacket to make the video - just like Honey G.
And she slightly tweaked the words of the catchy refrain sang by the hip hop artist in Saturday's programme - 'When I say Honey, you say G' - incorporating her own name instead.
