Apley Farm Shop, near Bridgnorth, is preparing to hold its annual Halloween pumpkin festival. The Spookley festival has run since 2012.

This year it will take place between October 15 and 16 and October 22 and 30, to coincide with half term.

Lady Harriet Hamilton, from the Apley Estate, said the event was a highlight and children, including her son Francis, love the chance to get into the spirit of Halloween.

She said: "Some children even come in fancy dress, with painted faces and love choosing their own pumpkins from our pumpkin patch." Children can climb aboard the Pumpkin Express and hear the Spookley story being read by a friendly Mrs Pumpkin at the event.

The Express will take them to the pumpkin patch to select their own pumpkin.

Once back in the courtyard, the pumpkins will be carved to have spooky faces and photographed.

The finished pumpkins are then entered into a competition.

Winners will be informed by email on October 31 and are then invited to collect their prizes.
