It held a private white collar boxing show last weekend and is due to open its doors to the public this Saturday for the 'Garage Gathering' event.

The garage music night will include MC Romeo, Oxide & Neutrino, Lisa Maffia and DJ Pied Piper.

Originally planned to open for the Specials on November 11, the Civic will now be open throughout October, hosting the Magic of Motown on October 23.

Jonn Penney, Promotions & Funding Officer, said: "It is open now, but it will be shutting down again for a big part of the refurb in January."
