New De Morgan collection for Wightwick Manor
Plans which will see an historic building at Wolverhampton's Wightwick Manor adapted to house an art collection have been approved.
Bosses applied for listed building consent for alterations to the Grade II* listed Old Malt House. They want to display the De Morgan collection for the next 10 years at the National Trust property.
The building's first floor is currently used as an education centre with a second-hand book shop and display areas on the ground floor, plus storage on the second floor. Adaptations will include a new lift and thermal insulation to the roof.
The De Morgan Collection consists of work by the late 19th and early 20th century ceramicist William De Morgan and his artist wife, Evelyn Pickering De Morgan. It is owned and managed by the De Morgan Foundation.
