Cradley Heath Creative held a Paintball by Numbers event at the stables at Haden Hill House on Sunday, which saw around 40 people lay siege to a huge 20ft by 10ft canvas with bright coloured paint.

Liz Lee, secretary of Cradley Heath Creative, organised the event, which she believes could be the first of its kind.

She said: "We're a group of artists and painters and we often work at Haden Hall.

"We're trying to encourage more people to use it as an arts area, and we're doing a number of creative projects with Haden Hill."

She added: "We were trying to think of different projects that might work well and we thought about a painting by numbers. But we've seen that done a lot before.

"Then we thought about a paintball by numbers event. As far as we know it's the first time it's been done.

"We received funding from Creative Black Country for this and another four projects.

"So we got a massive 20ft by 10ft canvas and hired the paintball guns."

It might not attract million pound bids like the work of Banksy or Tracey Emin, but Liz felt the canvas was impressive in its own unique way.

She said: "It's a bit of a creative mish-mash, but people really seemed to enjoy it. I think we had about 40 people have a go.

"It's a bit different from shooting people with the guns but I think the result looks pretty cool.

"We only had three colours, so it's very orange, pink and green. It's been really good fun."

The next project for the group is a Creative Dog Day on October 9, which is aimed at encouraging dog owners to get out and about in Cradley Heath.

Then on November 13, an arts exhibition is set to be held, where a variety of artists and painters will show off their work and give masterclasses in their respective disciplines. A sculptor, and music/dance entertainment will also be at that event.

And the final project for the year comes in December – children will be decorating a Christmas tree with hand-made decorations and messages to Santa.
