The music legend will play the Genting Arena on June 7.

Tickets are expected to sell fast when they go on sale on Friday.

It will be Elton's 36th performance in the second city and will mark a spectacular return to the Midlands after he brought the house down at Walsall's Banks's Stadium last year. He last played in Birmingham in 2012.

The singer, who has sold more than 250 million records worldwide, is showing no signs of slowing down and the announcement comes just a week after he headlined at Hyde Park for a BBC Radio 2 show. He also released his 33rd studio album Wonderful Crazy Night.

Around 14,000 people packed into the Banks's last summer on an unforgettable night for the Black Country as Elton, now aged 69, reeled of hits including Rocket Man, Candle in the Wind, Benny and the Jets and I'm Still Standing.

He thrilled the crowds during an uninterrupted two-and-a half-hour show.

Tickets for the Genting Arena date go on general sale from 10am on September 16 from theticketfactory.com or by calling 0844 33 88 222.
