The historic house, gardens and museum, in Finchfield Road, held is 12th annual Second World War weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Dozens of people braved the rain and dressed in their finest 1940s garb.

History enthusiasts from the group Nostalgia Unlimited were also dressed as simple and stylish civilians, stern ARP wardens, as well as American GIs and dashing RAF pilots.

Music from the 1940s added to the atmosphere of reminiscence as did the variety of re-enactments, displays and stalls featuring 40s-inspired products. Civilian and military vehicles also rolled up and visitors could even add to their own collection of vintage clothing, bunting, homeware and jewellery.

Councillor John Reynolds, Wolverhampton council's cabinet member for city economy, said: "This immensely popular event is in its 12th year. There was something for all the family to enjoy and to experience how it was to live more than 70 years ago."
