Shaun Hand, aged 32, wrote Pop Art Poems – the Music of The Jam after returning to education as an adult, getting a degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Wolverhampton.

Mr Hand is a barman at the Newhampton Inn and a musician in his own right, with the electronic group Fabrik.

He said: "The Jam are my favourite band, so this seemed a natural way of tying those interests together."

He also funded the printing of 1,000 copies which he is selling through www.popartpoems.co.uk.

So far he has sold copies across the UK and Europe and also in America and New Zealand.

Pop Art Poems costs £12 plus postage.
