The Lichfield Street theatre will be revamped over the summer, with a reopening in the autumn. While the work takes place, the box office will temporarily move to the Light House Media Centre from July 25 until September 9.

Online and telephone bookings will remain unaffected with the box office still contactable on 01902 42 92 12. Bookings in person will be in the foyer of the Light House at The Chubb Buildings, Fryer Street. The opening hours will be 11am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays.

Chief executive of the Light House, Kelly Jeffs, said: "We are really looking forward to welcoming the Grand's box office staff to work alongside our team at the Light House. It's going to be a fun summer."

The £800,000 revamp of the theatre will see its front-of-house areas, the box office and first and second floor areas extensively renovated.

The spruce-up will see a complete renovation of the front-of-house areas on all three levels of the building.

The work will be the venue's biggest refurbishment to date and will see the introduction of five exclusive booths on the dress circle level and two rooms that will be relaxing suites for audiences to enjoy before shows and during the intervals.

The Grade II listed, 1,200-seat theatre was built in 1893-1894 and designed by the architect Charles J Phipps.
