Wolverhampton Youth Orchestra will perform at the event at St Peter's Church tomorrow.

Mr Lloyd-Webber, chief executive of Birmingham Conservatoire, will present the Wolverhampton Music School Young Musician of the Year award to young clarinetist Elvinas Reinikovas at the concert.

During the concert, Elvinas will play solo in a Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra by Weber.

The concert is a prelude to the Wolverhampton Youth Orchestra and Wolverhampton Youth Wind Orchestras embarking upon a tour of Tuscany where they will play at prestigious venues centred upon Arezzo.

The tour has received sponsorship from The James Beattie Charitable Trust, fbc Manby Bowdler Solicitors, Wolverhampton Partners in Progress and the city's six Rotary Clubs – Bilston & Wolverhampton East, Tettenhall, Wednesfield, Willenhall, Wolverhampton and Wolverhampton St George's.

Councillor Claire Darke, Wolverhampton council's cabinet member for education, said: "Every year the two orchestras take part in a foreign tour at the start of the summer break.

"Music is an important part of a young person's education, and Wolverhampton Music Service provides quality teaching for children and young people across the city.

"The tour of Umbria is an excellent opportunity for pupils to show off their talents, and they will be excellent ambassadors for both our city and our country."

A total of 77 members of Wolverhampton Music Service's Youth Orchestra and Youth Wind Orchestra will

perform classical pieces by a range of composers including Verdi, Grieg, Ellerby and Dvo?ák.

Before they leave, they will take part in the concert at St Peter's Collegiate Church, St Peter's Square, tomorrow evening.

The programme includes Rossini's Overture from The Barber of Seville, Greig's Peer Gynt Suite No.1, Dvo?ák's Slavonic Dance No. 8 in G minor, Gonna Fly Now by Conti, Overture to Nabucco by Verdi and Ellerby's Dreamscapes.

Mr Lloyd-Webber and the Mayor of Wolverhampton are among the guests for tomorrow's performance.

Wolverhampton Music Service provides tuition and musical opportunities for youngsters from schools across the city, including the chance to perform with Wolverhampton Youth Orchestra and Wolverhampton Youth Wind Orchestra.

Mr Lloyd-Webber was previously in the West Midlands last month when he made an appearance in Telford.

More than 450 primary school pupils came together to play violins, percussion instruments and keyboards at the concert watched by the In Harmony founder, cellist and conductor. There were tears from parents in the audience as 380 children as young as five and six played the likes of Ode to Joy, Adele's Hello, Queen's We Will Rock You and the William Tell Overture. Another 78 sang in choirs.

The concert, in Telford Langley School's sports hall, featured pupils from Old Park Primary playing in smaller, separate orchestras and as a whole across an hour-long performance.
