One-year-old male, Gawa, who travelled from Rotterdam Zoo, will soon join the Dudley Zoos's other red panda resident, Yasmin, 11, in the hillside enclosure. Section leader Jay Haywood said: "Gawa is beautiful. He's currently off-show as he settles into DZG life and we're hoping to introduce him as a companion to Yasmin later this week.

"Red pandas are always popular species here and it will be great to see two pandas back in the enclosure."

The pandas, also known as the fire fox, are a vulnerable species and face ongoing threats in the wild through bamboo tree habitat destruction in their native mountainous forests in the Himalayan region of East India.
