Flooding postpones Kinver Country Fayre

A popular country fair has been postponed due to flooding, its organisers have announced.

The Kinver Country Fayre was due to take place tomorrow but the inclement weather has put paid to the event.

The event was due to include a main arena entertainment in Stag Meadow, stalls in High Street, live music throughout the day, a dog show, dance displays and a parade.

Bosses said the Fayre will instead take place on September 4.

Organisers explained their decision on Facebook: "To clarify, the whole event is postponed. Due to logistics involved, we cannot run the High Street separately.

"Essentially, the two main fields (7 acres) are under water, about three foot of water in places. Even if it drained today, it wouldn't be ready for Sunday, it would still be sodden.

"If you were coming with a stall, you will be contacted soon with the new date.

"If you bought tickets, you will be able to use them on the new date, or get a refund. Although, please bear with us while we sort that out.

"We will do everything we can to get in touch with everyone personally, but please remember, we are a small team and are obviously fielding a lot of calls and messages at the moment."
