A son managed to track down the classic car his father owned more than 80 years ago – preserved in perfect condition at the Black Country Living Museum.

Through a Google search of its registration plate, Robert Bluck found the 1934 Sunbeam Dawn – one of just eight in the world – at the venue.

When Mr Bluck, who lives in Northumberland, was researching his family tree, he did not expect a massive part of his father's life to be on show at one of the country's top museums.

Through his research, Mr Bluck uncovered a photo album of his father and grandfather, Bernard and Albert, which featured pictures of them standing in front of a car. Robert thinks that his father bought the car in 1935.

Bernard, then in his mid 20s, decided he would get the latest of Sunbeam's models, the Sunbeam Dawn.

In one of the photos Mr Bluck's grandfather can be seen proudly standing in front of the new car.

After examining the photo, Robert researched the car by its registration.

Mr Bluck was led to the museum's website, where he realised that the registration plates matched up, and arranged to meet up with the car's former owner – and Living Museum mechanic – Jim Pease.
