Thousands of people from around the country are expected to visit the Stafford County Showground for the four-day show, which began on Thursday and will finish tomorrow evening.

Exhibitors and visitors enjoyed a wide variety of activities and competitions, including dog training seminars, Good Citizen Dog Scheme Tests and a prize draw.

The event, which is organised by the 157-year-old Birmingham Dog Show Society, includes judging across a variety of breeds, from English classics to the more exotic.

From Dobermanns to collies, and King Charles spaniels to Pomeranians, dozens of classes of dogs will be on display across the weekend.

Other breeds include Bouvier des Flandres, Portuguese water dogs and giant schnauzers.

For those that fancy something a little smaller, the ever-popular puppy shows are also being held. Younger dogs will be split into toy, gundog, utility and working classes, and there will also be a Best in Show award.

The Best in Show classes will be judged by dog show veteran Freda Marshall, with dozens of others helping to judge the various breeds on display. Prize money is being offered across the different classes.

Even dogs not entered in the competition are able to find a place at a special tent, where they can socialise with other animals for a small fee.
