The Jollies Fun in the Sun World has been organised by Spring Vale ward councillor Malcolm Gwinnett. He says it aims to 'offset the loss' of this year's City Show which has been scrapped due to falling visitor numbers. The events will be featuring giant inflatables, ball pits, sand pits, paddling pools, football and basketball games, as well as refreshment stalls.
It is hoped hundreds of families will attend the events, which kick off next month and run until the August bank holiday weekend.
Councillor Gwinnett said: "I can announce that I have been able to put together a package of events to go into six of our parks.
"It is to help offset the loss of the City Show and, on the other hand, we have a range of parks here that are under-used and the council is looking for more income and at the same time the communities are benefitting.
"I am hoping that people will turn up to this."
The first event will be held at Bantock Park from May 28 to June 5. On June 25 and 26 it will be held at East Park, and then Hickman Park in Bilston on July 9 and 10. It will return to Bantock Park from July 28 to August 5 and will then arrive at Northwood Park on August 13 and 14, Wood Cross Park on August 20 and 21 and the final event will take place at Nothycote Farm from August 26 to 29.
The fun days run from 10am to 5pm each day.
Entry is £5 for children at the Bantock Park events. Prices are to be confirmed for the others.
