Dudley's DY Eye returning to town
The controversial DY Eye ferris wheel will be returning to Dudley for a second spin next year and be 'bigger and better', according to town centre traders.
Business bosses met up with council chiefs on Tuesday and have thrashed out a plan for the iconic DY Eye to return in 2017.
A date for the second coming is yet to be confirmed, but the wheel will be coming back, according to Len Lenihan from Dudley Market Traders Ltd.
More than 11,000 people have set foot on the 115ft attraction which is in Stone Street Square, which has been criticised on social media by former Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan.
Mr Lenihan said: "It will be happening again next year, it's just a matter of securing a date.
"It's exceeded all expectations - initially we thought if we hit 10,000 that would be absolutely brilliant.
"To exceed that at the first attempt is brilliant.
"Next year we're looking at how we can organise it around other things and put other events on rather than just a single thing.
"We want to have other things to be held in association with it to boost the footfall around the area.
"We are planning for it to be bigger and better than this year and expand on what has been done this year."
The wheel remains in town until April 24.
