The much-prized motif is assigned to the Twitter accounts of notable public figures, celebrities and athletes to verify that their profile is real.

And Jean is delighted she is up there with the likes of Pope Francis, Madonna and Ronaldo who all have ticks on their profiles to avoid other people setting up fake accounts in their name.

"I've made it. I'm a celebrity – it's official," she joked.

"It's a lovely thing to have, although it came completely out of the blue."

The former music teacher shot to fame for her joyful organ-playing skills in 2011 when she became a finalist on TV's Britain's Got Talent, which started a new series on Saturday.

She said: "I've got so many followers on Twitter now- it's going mad."
