The former Heath Park High School pupil sang Macy Gray's 'I Try' in the battle rounds along with her fellow contestant Deano.

But judge Paloma Faith chose to take Deano through to the next round rather than Megan.

Looking back at her exit from the show, shown on Saturday night, the 28-year-old mother of four, who lives on Cannock Road, said:

"I felt it was going to be a really tough, close call anyway. There were no more 'steals' available so one of us had to go." The singer continues to feel positive about her experience on the programme, saying: "I felt like I was on top of the world when I left.

"I had the time of my life on the show. They didn't have a bad word to say about my performance and I was so grateful for that, it's been nothing but positive feedback."

The singer, whose four sons, Zavier, 12, Jami, eight, Finley six and Taylor four, have supported her throughout the competition, also received well-wishers for Mother's Day.

"Paloma emailed me straight away to say she was so sorry and that she just wanted to help build Deano's confidence and self-belief," Megan said. "That's not to take away from Deano's performance at all, he's incredibly talented"

Since the show, Megan has an array of tour and performance dates booked in across the country, including a charity ball in Scotland.

"I''m also in the process of writing my album with other local singer-songwriters, to be released later this year." She added.

The performer is thrilled at what she's managed to achieve so far, especially since she had her tonsils out only three weeks ago.

"It's your worst nightmare as a singer, I was really worried that having them out would affect my voice. But I've been so lucky that it hasn't."
