Comic Adam Hills raises funds for Compton Hospice
Australian comic Adam Hills has raised funds for Compton Hospice, after being contacted by a woman whose mother was cared for there in her final days.
Hills, known for hosting comedy talk show The Last Leg on Channel 4, is currently touring his new stand-up show, Clown Heart and stopped off at the Birmingham Hippodrome on Sunday.
After every show on the tour so far, he has done a bucket collection for a particular cause and Sunday's charity of choice was Compton Hospice.
Lorna Williams, from Essington, went to the show and beforehand asked Hills on Twitter if he would hold the bucket collection for the hospice, after the care her mother Georgina Balfour received there before her death.
He soon replied and arranged for two Compton Hospice representatives to hold a bucket collection post-show and also went into the crowd himself to collect any donations.

Mrs Williams said: "I noticed he had done a bucket collection the night before in Wrexham, so I thought if I didn't ask, I wouldn't get. I sent him a quick tweet and didn't think anything would come of it, but it did and I'm really glad."
The hospice does not have a total yet, but fundraiser Grace Ruston said people were very generous with their donations.
"The people there were so generous, I've never seen donations like it," she said.
"People we climbing over each other to donate so we are really grateful to Adam, who took a lot of time to meet fans afterwards, and everyone who was there."
Hills' Clown Heart tour is at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre on Saturday.
