Enjoy a bostin' Black Country celebration
It is bound to be a bostin' Christmas celebration at a traditional carol service with a Black Country twang.
That is because a Christmas concert at Tipton Green Methodist Church, in Park Lane, Tipton tomorrow will be spoken in a Black Country dialect.
Tipton Civic Society chairman Ray Brothwood MBE has organised the unique service.
Mr Brothwood, aged 76, will be reading nine lessons from the bible in a Black Country dialect, plus there will be nine carols and singing from popular Tipton musician Kenny Craig.
He said: "The night is guaranteed to bring festive joy as well as portray the Christmas message.
"It's something unique that we do every year.
"I have organised it for more than 20 years and we always include our lessons read in a Black Country speech. It makes it more special and portrays the Christmas message in a festive and homely way. I have organised the celebration for more than 20 years now.
"It's brilliant to be able to bring Black Country folk together in this way," he added.
In previous years the concert has taken place across churches in Tipton.
Up to 300 people are expected to attend the free concert, with doors opening at 7pm. Mr Brothwood added that everyone was welcome to attend.
"People from all faiths are welcome to come and be entertained for the evening and spread the Christmas joy. Kenny Craig will have his guitar at the ready to celebrate with Christmas songs too – he is a Tipton lad so he will add a special touch to the night."
