These pictures are alongside more than 200 prints on display as part of an annual exhibition by Cannock Photographic Society.

A total of 217 prints by 28 talented artists are being showcased this month at Chasewater Innovation Centre. The vivid King of Fishing was taken by photographer Bob Cooper during a walk at Chasewater, while the sheer power and speed of superbike champion Shane Byrne is captured by Paul Duckhouse. And you can almost hear the hooves pounding the track at Wolverhampton Racecourse in Paul Hassel's image Neck and Neck.

Mr Hassell described taking the picture while riding the start truck as one of the most exhilarating experiences of his life. Other images on display include a street seller in Vietnam selling his colourful peppers on the road, taken by Paul Reynolds.

The club's 58th annual exhibition opened at the centre on November 1.

The free event will run until November 28 and last year attracted around 5,000 visitors, with free parking on-site.

This year, photographs on display vary from capturing wildlife, landscapes and action sports to portraits, still life and abstract images. And the exhibition doubles as a celebration after the photographic society came third out of 1,000 clubs across the country in a national competition and is regularly taking a top 10 spot in nationwide competitions. The club's chairman, John Cartlidge, has been a member for more than 35 years and said the entries this year are the best so far. He said: "The club is very strong, stronger than ever.

I am very proud of this year's exhibition and the achievements of members and the club. It is a great achievement to be in the position we are in."

The club was set up in 1953 and today has around 70 members and is always looking for new recruits.

The Society meets every Thursday at 7.45pm until 10pm at Mill Street Methodist Church in Cannock. For details visit www.cannockps.co.uk
