Dudley Zoo welcomes new sculpture
Dudley Zoo has taken a delivery of a new lion sculpture.

It has been donated to the zoo by 82-year-old Bill Dixon, from Wolverhampton, who created the artwork five years ago out of ceramic which he fired and glazed himself.
Mr Dixon, a former engineer, decided that now was the right time to offer it to the zoo after watching a documentary called Animal Architecture at Wolverhampton Art Gallery. The film focused on the relationship between visitors, animals and buildings at the Castle Hill attraction.

In 2005 he gained an art degree from Wolverhampton University, and since then has gone on to exhibit at London's Victoria & Albert Museum.
He said: "I've had some good times at Dudley Zoo since about the age of seven and thought someone might like it."
