The event called Big Up the Black Country has been organised by local funnyman, Garry Sawers.

Starring the man himself, Marlene The Black Country Wench and a host of other performers from the local club scene, it is hoped the evening will raise the profile of home-grown comedy stars.

Steve Downing, manager at Brook Street Community Centre – the venue for tomorrow night's event – said it was going to be a bostin' celebration. He explained: "The show is the brainchild of Black Country Gaz. There will be lots of entertainment acts and guaranteed laughs for everyone.

"Here at Brook Street Community Centre we always have lots of fun-filled shows for the family but this will be our first Big Up the Black Country event, and we're really looking forward to putting on a show."

Speaking about what the performers hope to achieve from the evening, Mr Downing, added: "Gaz hopes that that everyone will engage and embrace all things Black Country, and come away feeling proud of their Black Country roots."

The night also hopes to promote Black Country heritage, culture and dialect.

The event will be taking place at Brook Street Community Centre at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased on the evening from 7pm onwards.

A Black Country quiz, raffle and grey paes and bacon buffet will be available.
