First bonfire at Tipton park since 2007
A fireworks display will be held at a Tipton park for the first time in eight years after an annual event in nearby Wednesbury was axed.
Sandwell Council confirmed the event would be staged at Jubilee Park, Powis Avenue, on November 6.
It has been transferred from Brunswick Park, Wednesbury, after that site struggled to cope with high numbers attending. Three people were injured last year when a stray rocket shot into the crowd. Although it was due to a faulty firework, the council said the park was not suitable for the attending.
Other displays are at Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich, and Victoria Park, Smethwick, both on November 5.
Councillor Maria Crompton said: "We are very pleased to be putting on these free events at venues across the borough."
