Welcome to the all-conquering world of Beyonce – a star so super she only needs one name.

And that's before we even mention the megastar husband, advertising deals with Pepsi, H&M and L'Oreal and millions in the bank.

Fans at last night's spectacular started queueing at Birmingham's LG Arena early in the afternoon so they could be front and centre for the Mrs Carter Show world tour. And, goodness, they were not disappointed.

Beyonce is peerless when it comes to putting on a good show. She gives it her all, dancing and singing as though every gig is her last.

And from the very first song last night – Run The World – the pace did not stop.

There was head-banging and booty shaking, an all-female band and at one point she even flew through the air over the enthralled crowd.

The fans were treated to dance moves so elaborate, singing so powerful and a superstar so on-top-of-her-game, they were breathless and hysterical throughout.

Songs on the night included If I Were A Boy, Halo, Baby Boy and Crazy In Love, the latter causing near pandemonium in the arena.

Stand-out numbers were Why Don't You Love Me, the energetic Freakum Dress and Irreplaceable. One of the biggest cheers of the night was for the Destiny's?Child track Survivor.

Judging by her bootylicious (hey, we can use it, it's in the dictionary now) figure, it is hard to believe Bey only had baby Blue Ivy 15 months ago. She showed her family values when a video was screened to the crowd of husband Jay-Z and her little girl.

And she made us mere mortals feel a bit better about ourselves too, singing about being imperfect and jiggling her – wait for it – bingo wings. I?kid you not.

And those headline-grabbing costumes were used to full effect. There was the now infamous gold bejewelled number by The Blonds, a floaty white costume by Ralph and Russo and a black Givenchy cape and hat.

But what did you expect? There's no make-do-and-mend or Primark in the world of Beyonce.

Her voice was unbelievable, despite telling us she had a sore throat. Pointing to it near the end, she said: "You gave me strength."

So whether it's Mrs Carter, Sasha Fierce or Queen Bey, there's only one name on people's lips right now – Beyonce.
