Starsky star Paul Michael Glaser to hit the roof at Grand
[gallery] He was the 1970s TV heartthrob whose Saturday night star status even made knitted wool cardigans trendy.
And now Paul Michael Glaser will be swapping his famous red-with-white-stripe Ford Gran Torino for . . . a milk float when he takes to the stage at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre.
The 70-year-old will be taking on the role of Tevye the milkman in a five-night run of Fiddler On The Roof at the Lichfield Street venue in October.
His appearance in the musical will actually see the American star return to his roots as he played Perchik in the film version of the musical back in 1971 – four years before he landed the role of David Starsky in Starsky and Hutch, which made him a worldwide star.
Delighted theatre bosses in Wolverhampton today said musical theatre fans were in for a "special treat".Chief executive of the the Lichfield Street theatre, Peter Cutchie, said: "I am thrilled that the producers of Fiddler On The Roof have managed to secure the services of Paul Michael Glaser in the iconic role of Tevye.
